Microsoft's AZ-720 - Azure Support Engineer for Connectivity Specialty Certification

Hello Folks Namaste,

It has been long time I have written up any articles or shared any information, personal issues and goals took priority over my documentation. But in the background I was tied up with mostly Azure deployments, migrations and O365, also catching up with the blockchain technology and that is an amazing invention.

So back in end of March 2022, Microsoft released a news that they are coming with a Specialist Certification in Azure that will assist and help Support Engineer's. This was one of the most anticipated Certifications in the field as all the other certifications so far were Role based and all the details can be found here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/certifications/.

In April 2022, Microsoft released a limited seats for the Beta Exam for AZ-720 - Azure Support Engineer for Connectivity Specialty Certification and I thought of attempting this exam to prepare my skills and follow Microsoft's learning modules.

The skills measured is purely based upon the Support Engineer's role but this is not just about how you  troubleshoot a issue but covers a deep level information and analysis required in each scenario.

Exam is targeted at candidates for the Azure Support Engineer for Connectivity Specialty certification are support engineers with subject matter expertise in using advanced troubleshooting methods to resolve networking and connectivity issues in Azure.

To get ready for the exams, or to enhance your skills in general, I highly suggest the following resources:

  1. Check out the exam pages for details https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/certifications/exams/az-720
  2. Amazing link from Microsoft on the Certification - Certification Information

Skills measured

·       Troubleshoot business continuity issues (5–10%)

·       Troubleshoot hybrid and cloud connectivity issues (20–25%)

·       Troubleshoot Platform as a Service issues (5–10%)

·       Troubleshoot authentication and access control issues (15–20%)

·       Troubleshoot networks (25–30%)

·       Troubleshoot VM connectivity issues (5–10%)

To prepare for the exam a Learning Path of 9 Modules can be found here Learning Modules.

I followed Microsoft Learn and covered all the modules and also carried out Lab deployment for some of the modules that I was not clear. This exam is bit trickier than others as it covers questions and scenarios based on the real world so you will have to use out of the box concepts and think various ways to solve/troubleshoot the Azure issues.

Keep an eye on the Microsoft Learn Blog for further information on new Certifications and on 25th June 2022 I received my Pass Credentials for the AZ-720 exam.

Good Luck everyone those are planing to prepare for this Certification. If you need any guidance or help please send me a comment and I will get back to you.

Cheers,

Jimmy
